The Bordalo Pinheiro Museum boasts a remarkable collection of the artistic work of Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro and his son, Manuel Gustavo. The profusion of contents and meanings associated with the work lends it a dual status as both objet d’art and document.
Based on the collection of Cruz Magalhães, founder of the Bordalo Pinheiro Museum, the contents of the museum have been enhanced over the last 100 years. Varied humorous drawings and ceramics from Caldas da Rainha produced by other artists, as well as photography and documents relating to the Bordalo Pinheiro family and the museum’s activities, complete the estate.
The collection has around 13,200 objects among the following categories: Tiles, Ceramics, Drawings, Equipment and Tools, Sculpture, Documents, Photography, Prints, Furniture, Painting and Textiles, among others.
